Chemo Begins...

Yesterday (May 3) Angie had her port surgery performed in the hospital. It went smoothly but was a longer day than anticipated. She came home with a large bump where the port was and lots of bandages with tube sticking out. It was quite uncomfortable because of the tape but she managed to get a few hours of sleep last night.

At the moment-she’s now receiving her first chemo treatment. She also receives a lot of other meds to help her body tolerate the nasty side effects of chemo.

To give some context—she had to arrive today at 7am to see the oncologist. Which takes until about 7:45 before seeing the doctor. Then after that visit she waits again for her name to be called for infusion. Then that process takes about 3 hours or more. The whole thing today is approximately 5 hours.

Today the Oncologist shared news with her most recent images of the tumor. Even though the tumor showed a larger measurement-he said the tumor is not changed! Apparently they account for +/- and human error when measuring. One tech may click on a slightly different point to calculate the measurement. Regardless-he said the tumor is “no change” in the past month.

Her chemo will be every 2 weeks for 8 weeks. And then another regimen begins. The past month has been wild with countless doctor appointments, tests, surgeries, & lots of information to learn. But the battle is just beginning. Thank you for your prayers and the joy you bring in sharing this journey with us.

The Positives:

-YOU! Your prayers, encouragement, and gifts have meant so much!

-Kind nurses and doctors leading the journey

-Great news the tumor isn’t growing like we thought!

Please pray for:

-Tolerating chemo and side effects

-The Chemo works to aggressively obliterate the tumor!

-The port heals well with no complications

-Much needed rest and strength
